Continuation of Collaborative Efforts

The chairpersons of the departments of special education, Florida's Public Universities, and representatives of the staff of the Institute of Small and Rural Districts (ISRD) continued their collaboration to implement the Virtual ESE Project.  Virtual ESE Planning Team meetings yielded agreement on strategies and action plans that address issues involved in the operation of the Virtual ESE Program for its fourth year (2003-2004).  Strategies that addressed: (1) registration procedures, (2) awarding of FTEs, (3) teaching faculty workloads, (4) curriculum and coursework, (5) competencies and skills to be acquired by students, (6) Florida's K-12 ESE standards, (6) online technology support, (7) awarding diplomas, and (8) marketing opportunities.   The Virtual ESE Planning Team developed a proposed schedule for the Virtual ESE Program through the 2006-07 academic year. The schedule is based on Exceptional Student Education (Grades K-12): Procedures for Implementation of Rule 6A-4.0179S - July 1, 2002. The schedule that was proposed is listed below:
